Marie Jo AW17, maximalism, craftsmanship and luxurious textures
This season, minimalism makes way for contemporary maximalism. Not in a Baroque way, but as a rich interpretation of color, texture and shape. Marie Jo evokes a clean look this winter that is as elegant as it is warm and feminine. Meticulous craftsmanship and custom-developed luxurious materials set the tone for luxury maximalism with a tempered, feminine touch.
For the new Autumn/Winter 2017-2018 collection, Marie Jo draws on the iconic floral theme that is so characteristic of the Belgian lingerie label. The result? A layered wintry interpretation. The graceful finesse of a flower represents the strong, stylish woman Marie Jo invariably pictures in every design.
This winter, the floral trend shows itself at its most exuberant. Marie Jo opts for exclusive materials such as Swiss embroidery, Calais lace, Belgian pleating and Italian soft-touch fabric, each of them grounded in years of craftsmanship. Subtly incorporated floral motifs go hand in hand with fine luxurious touches such as pearl effects, silk bows and lurex.
The absolute eye-catcher next winter is Dahlia. A set that captures the collection’s theme beautifully with Italian lace, Italian embroidery, rich floral motifs and a perfect mix of the color trends that dominate the collection. Aubergine, dark grey, emerald green and petrol blue form the perfect palette to show off the exquisite craftsmanship and fine gossamer lace.
Power dressing is back, but is more luxurious and refined than ever. Because this is a collection that also begs to be stroked. Tactile textures and sumptuous detailing play with our senses. Flamboyant touches such as transparent tulle and generous velvet effects add extra depth. Light cuts such as longline and underwired bras with a triangle-look add a coquettish allure. Completing the collection are floaty accessories such as two-piece sets, nightdresses and kimonos in washed silk or high-gloss satin.
